insignificant-bit-of-carbon:

if pro-lifers really cared about children they’d be fighting for causes like a less abusive adoption system, improved education for all, child abuse and sexual assault on children and helping poor families with children.

Instead they stand on sidewalks and scream harassment at people’s medical choices.

This is so logically flawed. There almost isn’t an argument here.

"If pro-lifers really cared about children, they’d be fighting for causes…" This is a baseless moral judgment with no justification whatsoever. I could just as easily say "If PETA really cares about saving animals, they should all kill themselves and eliminate their carbon footprint" but if I don’t offer any justification then it means nothing. It deserves no critical thought. Why are these issues more important than abortion?

Additionally, this presupposes pro-lifers are not also advocating for these things. This is a massive argumentative mistake that unravels your entire post. Believe it or not, people have more than one political interest, and they are allowed to pursue as many or as few as they want.

"Instead they stand on sidewalks and scream harassment…" I recognize (or hope) that this person isn’t decrying all pro-lifers by saying this but do they realize that probably like 1% of pro-lifers have ever held a sign on a street before? Even if it was 10%, that’s pretty insignificant.

"…medical choices." And this is where you fail. Reducing the complex issue to "medical choices" dismisses with no consideration, intentionally or otherwise, the issue of snuffing out human life for no adequate reason as a "medical choice" like splinting a finger or getting stitches. There is a REASON a massive, worldwide debate swirls around the topic of abortion and merely reducing it on your own terms as a "medical choice" eliminates all of the other implications that come with it, even if you don’t consider them valid. Intellectual dishonesty is rampant on this site, on the internet, and among our generation, but is this really the best we’ve got? We must learn how to THINK. This is not thinking.
